The verdict is out on whether or not infertility is on the rise in the United States. However, we know one thing for certain: environmental factors can and are causing adverse effects on both male and female fertility. One of the most logical published correlations is in regards to pesticides or chemicals, as well as our increased exposure to plastics and food wrappers. What isn’t being talked about as much in the mainstream media is that the same cell phones and wireless gadgets you use to share information regarding fertility and infertility treatments and solution may be a culprit as well.
Wireless technology requires electromagnetic radiation frequencies (EMF) and increasing numbers of studies show connections between EMFs and infertility, as well as other biological and behavioral disruptions. While we don’t want this information to scare you, it is important that you know the facts and do all you can to find a balance in the life that you live and especially during your quest to conceive a baby.
The Link Between Infertility & Technology; What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You!
Have you ever thought about all of the energetic waves that are coming at you at any given time? In an era where satellites, your cell phone and wireless computerized gadgets are sending and receiving seemingly infinite amounts of electromagnetic radiation, there is bound to be some fallout, right? But, what if that fallout is at the expense of you or your spouse’s fertility?
This is what modern scientists – especially fertility specialists – are trying to figure out. Here is some of the most recent data.
Cell Phone Technology All That Electromagnetic Radiation Harms Fertility
Let’s start with a recent study published by The Cleveland Clinic in The Open Reproductive Science Journal. The abstract states:
…cell phone technology is an integral part of everyday life and its use is not only restricted to voice conversation but also conveying news, high resolution pictures and internet. However, these advances in technology are accompanied by a progressive boost in the intensity and frequency of the emitted electromagnetic waves without consideration of their consequences….Sperm are electrically active cells and their exposure to cell phone electromagnetic waves and current may affect their motility, morphology and their count.
You can see where they’re headed with this one. Read the study (hyperlinked above) to get into all the juicy details, but we’ll leave you with this memorable fact: in a study of 361 men, divided into groups by cell phone usage, 55.6% of men with little to no cell phone exposure had normal sperm morphology. Only 16.7% of men who used cell phones regularly had normal sperm morphology.
In addition to serious questions regarding cellular electromagnetic radiation and sperm morphology, there is also concern regarding this form of radiation and the human body in general. The study goes on to say that cell phone usage has been related to several changes in the human body at large, including our brain’s EEG waves, sleep patterns, melatonin secretion, heart rate, blood pressure and decreased hormone secretions.
The only solution is to limit your exposure as much as possible and keep that phone as far from your body as you can.
Damage From Cellular and WiFi Functions Go Beyond Fertility & The Fetus
Even the former CEO of Microsoft Canada, Frank Clegg, has been quoted, “It may take some sort of catastrophe to get people’s attention.” His overwhelming concern for the data coming in regarding cellular and WiFi technology – and its effect on human physiology, specifically in its ability to alter human DNA, caused him to found the organization Canadians 4 Safe Technology.
Cleggs largest concern was for children and the fact that our children and grandchildren today are the human guinea pigs for a technological era that has been given free rein to inundate our environment with energy we have yet to fully understand. There is a wide range of studies showing the detrimental effects this bombardment is having on human development. Children exposed to constant electromagnetic radiation from normal cell phone and WiFi technology have slower motor skills, increased hyperactivity and a more difficult time concentrating and/or focusing on a single task.
Some countries, predominantly in Europe, are taking strides to create EMF-free zones in schools, hospitals and other public places. You can do your part to limit your own exposure, and that of your children by:
- Limiting children’s use of cell phones to emergencies only
- Use a low-powered Wi-Fi router and turn it off when it isn’t needed
- Use a landline whenever possible
- Try to keep cell phones and wireless gadgets away from the body
- Support labeling laws
