Celeste Brabec, M. D., Medical Director of Reproductive Resource Center of Greater Kansas City, was delighted to serve as host to the 21st Annual John W. Betts, M.D. Memorial Lecture, held on November 16, 2017 at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation Conference Center as part of the KC Gynecological Society 2017 Fourth Quarter meeting. The Conference Center is located just off the Kansas City Country Club Plaza near UMKC.
The guest speaker was Dr. Bruce Tjaden, whose topic was “Myomectomy.” Myomectomy, the surgical removal of uterine fibroids, is a hotly debated topic in infertility. Many women have uterine fibroids but how fibroids affect fertility, how to best image them, which should be left in place and which should be removed, and whether the surgical approach should be via hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, robotically-assisted laparoscopy or open laparotomy is a maze of decision making, and Dr. Tjaden’s lecture helped to clarify optimal management.
Education to both patients and to obstetrician-gynecologists is a part of RRC‘s mission and legacy of “Experience. Innovation. Hope.”
